The unique particularity about the political party Just Russia is that the party, unlike all other parties in Russia, is a member of Socialist International, a very authoritative international organization uniting the political parties all over the world. Just Russia became a member of Socialist International in 2008.
The fact that Just Russia became a member of this organization can truly be called a breakthrough in the development of Russian political system as a whole and another step forward in integrating Russia into the complex structure of international organizations that gain more and more influence on international level.
Just Russia is an active member of international socialist democratic movement. Considering that many of socialist international member parties are either ruling parties in their countries or have vast experience of being in power, cooperation with them in the framework of Socialist International adds to resolving a number of important intergovernmental issues.
Socialist International in its current form exists since 1951. However, its history goes back to II International, an international movement of socialist parties created in 1889, and Socialist International celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1989.
The number of Socialist International members is always growing due to the increasing influence of social democratic and socialist parties in the modern world. About 50 member parties of Socialist International occupy leading positions in the governments of their countries.
The superior authoritative body of Socialist International is the Congress of Socialist International that is held once every 3 or 4 years and the Socialist International Council that has its sessions twice a year in different countries. The president of Socialist International is George Papandreou.
As a member of Socialist International, Just Russia takes an active part in discussions on global climate change, settlement and containment of international and local military conflicts, power industry safety and migration. Just Russia is a constant member of Socialist International Committee for Ethics and Administration, Commission for a Sustainable World Society, Commission on Global Financial Issues and other topical and regional committees.
The Socialist International frequently sends missions and delegations to various countries and regions to help promote peaceful resolutions of conflicts and to support the strengthening of democracy, including through the observation of elections. In recent years such missions and delegations have visited on many occasions the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Central and Eastern Europe.
As a non-governmental organisation, the Socialist International has consultative status (Category I) with the United Nations, and works internationally with a large number of other organisations.
"Our relationship with Europe cannot be based entirely on trade, for we share as many ideological things in common as economic. The former USSR neighbor countries, - France, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Finland had social democratic parties leadership for decades, and these countries managed to build an effective government system, well-developed and innovative economy and services and were able to ensure high living standards for their citizen. And it was the example of these countries that inspired millions of soviet people to support radical reforms", - leader of the political party Just Russia Sergei Mironov says.
Leader of the political party Just Russia Sergei Mironov is sure that European type of socialism is Russia's future. "Socialist International is a powerful organization, and with its help we can effectively defend Russia's national interests. And I'm sure that the diplomatic work that Just Russia does within Socialist International will do a lot for the good of our country", - Sergei Mironov said.
