Polish-Russian Forum calls for cooperation
Poland's Senate and Russia's Federation Council said in a declaration ending the second Polish- Russian Forum of Regions here on Wednesday that the two countries are willingness to continue cooperation between regions, promote undertakings in science, culture, sport, strengthen democracy and civic activity. The document was signed by Polish Senate Speaker Bogdan Borusewicz and visiting Chairman of the upper house of the Russian parliament Sergei Mironov.

Mironov in Turbulence Scare Over Poland
A plane carrying a Russian delegation led by Federation Council Speaker Sergei Mironov to Poland had a scare Monday when it hit rough turbulence on approach to Warsaw, Interfax reported. No one was injured, and the plane landed safely.

Mironov: bilateral ties to remain positive
Polish-Russian relations will run smoothly regardless of who becomes the next president of Poland, Sergey Mironov, head of the Russian Federation Council, told journalists, Tuesday. “Irrespective of whom Poland chooses as president, we will collaborate with him. I do not expect any changes for the worse in the bilateral ties to come in the wake of the upcoming presidential elections,” Mironov declared.

Russian statesman: ‘Katyn is our common tragedy’
Sergey Mironov, Speaker of Russia’s Federation Council, has said that Katyn should be a symbol of Polish-Russian historical reconciliation. Mironov, who started a three-day visit to Poland, Sunday, said that “Katyn is a common pain and a common tragedy” in an article published today in Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

Sergei Mironov discusses Russian and Polish regions forum issues in Poland
Sergei Mironov has flown to Krakow on Sunday to lay flowers at the grave of the Polish President Lech Kaczynski, who died in a plane crash in April, and at the monument to the Soviet soldiers, who were killed liberating Poland during World War II.

Top Russian lawmaker starts visit to Poland
The speaker of the upper house of the Russian parliament will start a two-day visit to Poland on Sunday, the Russian embassy in Warsaw said. Sergei Mironov will meet with acting Polish president Bronislaw Komorowski and Prime Minister Donald Tusk and attend the opening of the Second Forum of the Russian and Polish regions.

Director-General Yumkella at Nevsky Ecological Congress
UNIDO Director-General, Kandeh K. Yumkella, urged today Russia and other countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States to invest more into research and development to support new breakthrough technologies for sustainable development. Director-General Yumkella had talks with Sergey Mironov, the Speaker of the Federation Council (upper house of the Russian parliament) and one of the organizers of the Congress. Mironov's Life to Be Insured at $93,000
The life of Federation Council Speaker Sergei Mironov is worth 2.8 million rubles ($93,000). The administration for the Federation Council has decided to take out a life insurance policy for that amount for the speaker as well as policies worth 2.3 million rubles ($76,000) for each of the other 166 senators in the upper house of the parliament.

Russian speaker thanks Germany for care for Soviet WW2 graves
Russian Federation Council speaker Sergei Mironov thanked German Bundesrat President Jens B·hrnsen on Thursday for care for Soviet war memorials. “We highly appreciate the efforts of German authorities to preserve Soviet war monuments and memorials,” he said at a meeting with Bohrnsen after laying a wreath to the Soviet Memorial in Treptow Park.
