The Russian Federation Council upper chamber and the parliament of the South American Common Market (MERCOSUR) signed a cooperation agreement. The document was signed on Monday by interim speaker of the MERCOSUR parliament Jose Juan Bautista Pampuro and speaker of the Federation Council Sergei Mironov.

A senior Russian parliament official has expressed opposition to unilateral sanctions against Iran after EU members made a decision to unilaterally impose additional embargos on Tehran. Chairman of the Russian Federation Council Sergei Mironov told the weekly Novy Vzglyad that Russia is opposed to unilateral sanctions against Iran and those firms and countries working in collaboration with the country, IRNA reported.
