On Mikhail Khodorkovski arrest

- Russian state agencies have shown a yellow card to the oligarchs. Khodorkovski's example shows the oligarchs that one must live by the law rather than by notions. I am astonished by the dismay that the Yukos case produced among some politicians and mass media in the U.S..This is strange for a country where tax evasion is a most heinous crime. Their argument is that charity redeems all the previous problems with the law, but let us recall that a president - not the Russian one, but President Roosevelt - once said: no donations can make up for the crimes committed by a person in the process of gaining capitals.

- I don't foresee any negative effects from the sentence brought against Mikhail Khodorkovsky. It did not come as a big surprise to anyone. For me, it would have been unpleasant if the court had justified Khodorkovsky. Then I would have become doubtful about the Prosecutor General's Office.
