Sergei Mironov: The Positions of the Peacemaking Troops in the Zone of Gergian-Ossetian Conflict Must Be Open for the OSCE Observers
August 26. The Chairman of the Council of Federation Sergei Mironov is
confident that Russia won’t
conduct negotiations about any kind of internationalization of the peacemaking
mission in South Ossetia.
According to Sergei Mironov, “our country has been fulfilling the role of
peacemaker and guarantor of military-political stability in the region and will
go on”.
"Russian troops will keep their positions in South
Ossetia and adjacent area.
Russia has
formed the new effective system of the military control in the zone of the
Georgian-Ossetian conflict”, Sergei Mironov said.
“But the world community should understand that international occupation of
Georgia by
Russia is
nonsense. The location area of the Russian peacemaking troops must be open for
the OSCE observers.
Russia is
fundamentally interested in such a cooperation with OSCE in monitoring of
military-police activities of the conflicting parties”, Sergei Mironov said.
