Mironov is not afraid of the international isolation of Russia
August 19. No international isolation of Russia after the events in South Ossetia is possible, inspit of the statements of several western politicians. Such an opinion was expressed by the Chairman of the Council of Federation Sergei Mironov.
"Take a look at the globus – how Russia can be isolated? We are situated on the territories of two continents without mentioning energy resources, Russia’s influence on international affairs", - Mironov commented on some hard-edged statements made by several politicians of the NATO nations that isolation of Russia after the conflict with Georgia is necessary.
In his opinion, it’s just a blame game of these politicians and the fact that their protégé Mikhail Saakashvili has boobed really vexes them. “Russia will never be the one to blame, and there is sense in spite of any malicious statements”, Mironov stressed.
Beside that, the speaker of the Council of Federation thinks, in case if NATO nations somehow scale down the cooperation with Russia, it would disserve them mush more, ITAR-TASS agency notes. "What if there is an international terrorism fall out? We should fight it one by one?" – Mironov asked the rhetorical question, çexplaining that fighting the common threats makes the cooperation necessary.
