Sergei Mironov: "Georgian government still obstruct the conflict settlement talks”

August 14. The Chairman of Council of Federation Sergei Mironov said: “It is still wet the inks that Mikhail Saakashvili used to sign a cease-fire agreement – though with proviso, the Georgian government is all out to win the situation back.

Actually it is the repeat of what was happening before the talks between President Dmitry Medvedev and French president Nikolas Sarkozy. Then representatives of Georgian leaders announced for several times the cease of fire as well as disengagement of their forces from the conflict zone. At the same time firing and raids within the territory of South Ossetia went on.

Not too long ago Saakashvili were hiding from the unknown combat jet and now he has declared himself to be the winner in the war with Russia. Russian military troops located in South Ossetia and Abkhazia were declared occupation. The Parliament of Georgia is even preparing the appropriate act. Tbilisi stoutly maintains that the peace-making mission must be internationalized. At last, Tbilisi demonstrates the resolute resistance to discus the status of the two unauthorized republics.

In other words, Tbilisi is already slowing down the prossess of conflict settlement talks. Georgian government fights a “nerve” war expecting Russia to jib in the face of sledge diplomatic and information attack of USA and its allies and to expose South Ossetia and Abkhazia. The sooner Tbilisi, Washington and Brussels would understand that their hopes are illusive, the perspective of conflict settlement would become near-term”.
