Sergei Mironov spoke on the situation in Kyrgyz Republic
June, 21. Chairman of the federation Council Sergei Mironov has talked with mass media representatives about his vision of the situation in Kyrgyz Republic.
In his speech Sergei Mironov said: “Nobody could stay indifferent to such a tragedy as happened in Kyrgyz Republic. And Russia, of course, can not and will not stand aside. It is only natural of our country to provide humanitarian aid to Kyrgyz citizen who suffered from mass riots.
However, there are still less obvious things to be done, and those are political measures needed to stabilize the situation in the region. And you cannot brute-force the mess of problems that caused this burst of violence, for this will lead to more dangerous situations.
I believe that what is needed is a long and thorough work on gaining back the lost confidence. And on our side, humanitarian aid should include not only food and shelter. It should include psychological, moral and intellectual aid. There are professionals in Russia who know all ins and outs in the mixture of ethnical, social, economic, religious and territory issues of central Asian region. So the important thing now is that their analysis of the situation and their ideas on resolving the crisis must not be left unnoticed”.
